Royal Acquaintance, Nefer

This painted limestone stela with raised relief carving depicts an Old Kingdom era woman named Nefer who held the title, “Acquaintance of the king”. Discovered within her mastaba, this stela was used to supply offerings to Nefer beyond death, including; “a thousand alabaster vessels, a thousand pieces of cloth“, “purification of 3 pellets of natron”, “purification of 1 incense pellet, green eye-paint”, “black eye-paint”.
As well as food and drink offerings including, “zizyphus, loaf of zizyphus, persea fruit, (7) carob bean, green sekhet-cakes” and a “container of cool water” with “implements for washing hands“.

Nefer was buried in a mastaba at Giza, Cemetery 1200, tomb G 1207. The stela was found in the chapel niche.
